The United States Mint releases new designs for quarters fairly regularly, often commemorating historical figures, events, or national parks. So, what can we expect from the 2023 quarters? The answer is a continuation of the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program.

America the Beautiful Quarters® Program: 2023 Releases

The America the Beautiful Quarters® Program, launched in 2010, features a new quarter design each year, representing a different national park or site from each state, the District of Columbia, and the five U.S. territories. This program is scheduled to conclude in 2032.

In 2023, the Mint will release five new quarters:

• Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site (Alabama): This quarter will commemorate the heroic pilots of the Tuskegee Airmen, who fought bravely during World War II.
• American Samoa National Park (American Samoa): This quarter will showcase the unique beauty and biodiversity of American Samoa, a U.S. territory in the South Pacific.
• Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Reserve (Virgin Islands): This quarter will highlight the historical and ecological significance of Salt River Bay.
• Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument (Maine): This quarter will depict the stunning landscapes of Katahdin Woods and Waters, a relatively new national monument.
• National Park of American Samoa (American Samoa): This design will likely feature different aspects of American Samoa's natural beauty than the previous design dedicated to American Samoa.

Design Details

While specific design details aren't released far in advance, we can expect each quarter to feature a unique design reflecting the chosen site's essence. The obverse (heads side) will, as always, feature George Washington. The reverse (tails side) will showcase the individual national park or site. The Mint typically releases images and descriptions closer to each coin's release date.

Where to Find Them

You can expect to find these 2023 quarters in circulation throughout the year. Collectors may also choose to purchase rolls or bags of quarters directly from the United States Mint.
